Dylan Horton Returns to Texans Defensive End after Overcoming Hodgkin Lymphoma

Activated from Reserve/Non-Football Injured List

Dylan Horton, the Texans defensive end, was reinstated from the reserve/non-football injured list. This courageous move comes less than a year after his diagnosis with Hodgkin lymphoma, a late-stage cancer affecting the lymph nodes. Horton’s diagnosis was confirmed on December 1, with the young player announcing his remission in March.

An Inspiring Return to Practice

Horton, at the age of 24, resumed practice on Wednesday. His return was met with enthusiasm and admiration from his coach, DeMeco Ryans. “Having him back at practice this week has been fantastic,” Ryans expressed, praising Horton’s positive attitude throughout his battle with the disease.

“The manner in which he handled his diagnosis and treatment, always maintaining positivity and a smile, is truly inspiring,” Ryans remarked on Wednesday. “Despite everything he’s faced, I can’t recall a day when Dylan showed any signs of negativity. His attitude is a testament to the power of positivity, no matter what challenges we face. Dylan is a true embodiment of this.”

Impressive Collegiate and Professional Career

A fourth-round selection in the 2023 draft, Horton showcased his skills at both New Mexico and TCU during his college career. In his rookie NFL season, he played in 10 games, recording 13 tackles, two quarterback hits, and a fumble recovery. His season-best performance was witnessed in a 21-16 victory over Arizona, where he made three tackles.
