Tennessee Titans’ Key Player Faces Injury Setback
Chidobe Awuzie: A Significant Loss for The Titans
In a recent development from Nashville, Tennessee, the Titans are set to miss their starting cornerback, Chidobe Awuzie, for an extended period due to a groin injury. The unfortunate event occurred during their 30-14 defeat to the Green Bay Packers on Sunday.
Awuzie’s Uncertain Future
The Titan’s coach, Brian Callahan, has acknowledged that Awuzie’s injury could potentially lead to his placement on the injured reserve list. “Chido’s got a groin,” Callahan stated. “We’re foreseeing his absence for a few weeks now. The exact timeline is yet to be determined, but expect him to be out for a while.”
Coach Callahan’s Take on the Situation
Awuzie’s injury, sustained during the closing defensive play of the first quarter while covering Packers’ receiver Romeo Doubs, is a significant blow for the Titans. Awuzie signed a three-year, $36 million deal with the Titans in March.
Immediate Replacements Stepping Up
Rookie cornerback Jarvis Brownlee Jr. replaced Awuzie, playing 28 snaps in the recent game. Callahan confirmed that the Titans intend to retain Brownlee as the starter, alongside L’Jarius Sneed, during Awuzie’s recovery period. Darrell Baker Jr., a second-year cornerback, also got some game time.
The Titans may consider promoting cornerback Tre Avery from the practice squad to the active roster if Awuzie is indeed placed on the injured reserve list.
