Safety Jamal Adams’ Release Request Granted by Titans: A New Chapter Begins
Titans Grant Pro Bowl Safety Jamal Adams’ Release Request
A Closer Look at the Titans’ Decision
The Titans are fulfilling Jamal Adams, the three-time Pro Bowl safety’s plea to be let go. In July, after being released by the Seattle Seahawks, Adams inked a one-year agreement with the Titans. This move gave Adams the chance to work again with Dennard Wilson, the Titans’ defensive coordinator, who was previously Adams’ defensive backs coach when he was selected as the No. 6 pick by the New York Jets in the 2017 NFL draft.
Adams’ Performance and Subsequent Release
In his time with the Titans, Adams participated in a total of 20 plays across three games, with his Titans debut against the Jets in Week 2 seeing him in action for just two plays. His season-high 17 plays came the following week against the Green Bay Packers. However, Adams’ irritation reached a climax after he was involved in only one play against the Miami Dolphins in Week 4.
Despite this, Adams clarified on Thursday that his discontentment was not rooted in his non-starter status. Rather, he yearned for an opportunity to contribute more significantly, leading him to request his release.
Factors Contributing to Adams’ Limited Participation
From the Titans’ perspective, Adams’ limited involvement was primarily due to insufficient practice time, as a team source revealed. Adams had missed a significant portion of the training camp as he battled a hip injury, which led to his placement on the non-football injury list the previous Saturday. Now, the experienced defensive back claims he’s healthy and eager to contribute to any team willing to welcome him.
