Travis Kelce Affirms His Consistency in Performance Amid Declining Stats with the Chiefs
Travis Kelce Asserts He’s Still the Same Despite Slow Start to the Season
Travis Kelce on His Performance and Team Dynamics
Despite a less than stellar start to the season, Kelce remains confident in his abilities and role within the team. He affirms that he is the same player who consistently delivered 1,000-yard seasons in his early career. “The stats this year might paint a different picture, but I assure you, the same player walks into this building every day. That’s what truly matters to me,” Kelce stated. He emphasized that he is his harshest judge and any external noise doesn’t affect him.
Kelce attributes his past accomplishments to his fortunes and understands that the ball can’t always be in his possession. He expressed utmost trust in Patrick Mahomes’ decision-making capabilities, despite the team not scoring as many points as they’d like. “We may not be posting high scores, but we’re still undefeated, which means we’re doing something right,” Kelce noted.
Other Chiefs’ Stars Stepping Up
While Kelce is yet to find his stride this season, with eight catches for 69 yards and no touchdowns, other Chiefs’ players have been stepping up their game. As they gear up for the Sunday face-off against the Los Angeles Chargers, Rashee Rice leads as the top receiver, Noah Gray is outperforming Kelce per catch, and rookie Carson Steele was the leading rusher in their recent game against the Atlanta Falcons.
“Rashee’s performance has been impressive,” Kelce said. “He’s great to play with, and definitely one of my favorite guys in the team. We’ve also put a lot of trust in Noah. It’s fantastic to see him utilize his full potential as a well-rounded player.”
Kelce’s Take on the Chiefs’ Current Standing
Kelce mentioned that teams seem to be adopting a softer approach against the Chiefs this season than in previous years. In terms of statistics, the Chiefs rank 14th in the league in yards but are seventh in points. “We understand that we need to keep pushing and we’re not yet where we aspire to be,” Kelce admitted. “There’s a weekly urgency to prepare adequately for the opponents we face. In addition, we’re continuously critiquing ourselves during game reviews to improve our performance,” he concluded.
