Vikings’ Running Back Aaron Jones Exits Game Due to Hip Injury
Aaron Jones Sidelined for Jets Game Due to Hip Injury
The Minnesota Vikings announced that running back Aaron Jones would not be participating in the upcoming Sunday game against the New York Jets due to a hip injury. The specifics of when Jones sustained this injury remain unclear. However, his last interaction with the ball was a 24-yard catch during an intense first quarter.
The Incident and Subsequent Replacement
During the clash, starting quarterback Sam Darnold had also been temporarily sidelined due to an injury. In his place, backup quarterback Nick Mullens threw a slightly underthrown 24-yard pass to Jones on a critical third-and-5 situation. Jones made a jump to catch the pass, landing hard, which potentially led to his injury. Following this incident, backup Ty Chandler replaced Jones on the field, only to fumble a pitch from the returning Darnold.
Prior to this, Jones had made a significant impact on the game, having rushed for 29 yards over seven carries. This season, his first with the Vikings after signing a one-year free agent contract earlier this year, Jones has rushed for 350 yards.
Looking Forward: Potential Recovery Time
The Vikings are scheduled for a bye in Week 6. This break could potentially help reduce the duration of Jones’ recovery time, thereby limiting his absence from the field.
