Tom Brady Anticipated to Secure Approval as Minority Owner of the Raiders

Tom Brady Set to Become Minority Owner of Las Vegas Raiders

Brady’s Bid to be Approved at NFL Owners Meeting

Legendary NFL player, Tom Brady, is on the brink of becoming a minority owner of the Las Vegas Raiders. This decision is slated to be finalized at the upcoming NFL fall owners meeting in Atlanta, according to reliable league sources.

Support from the Finance Committee

The NFL’s finance committee has scrutinized Brady’s offer and intends to present it for voting among the rest of the owners. A minimum of 24 out of the 32 NFL owners must approve the bid. However, sources have declared that the committee wouldn’t propose Brady’s bid for voting if it didn’t stand a chance of approval. Thus, the passing of the bid seems to be a foregone conclusion.

Brady’s Unanimous Approval as Minority Owner

Brady’s bid received a unanimous nod from the finance committee. It’s worth noting that there are no recent instances of the owners going against a unanimous recommendation from the finance committee. Brady, in association with businessman Tom Wagner, is on the verge of securing around 10% ownership of the Raiders from the current owner, Mark Davis. This deal was initially agreed upon in May 2023 but required some adjustments as the league’s financial committee felt the original offer was too low.

Brady Joins the Elite List of Athlete-Owners

The Raiders’ owner Mark Davis expressed his excitement about welcoming Brady, who will become only the third player in NFL history to transition into an owner role. The other two are George Halas and Jerry Richardson.

Before his final NFL season in 2022, Brady had agreed to a whopping 10-year, $375 million contract with Fox to become an analyst post-retirement. Brady, now 47, retired in 2023 and started his tenure at Fox in 2024.

Brady is set to join an illustrious club of former athletes who have transitioned into team ownership. This elite list includes sports greats like Michael Jordan, Magic Johnson, Dwyane Wade, Alex Rodriguez, Mario Lemieux, Patrick Mahomes, Warrick Dunn, John Stallworth, and Lewis Hamilton, who all own stakes in various sports franchises.
