Jerrell Ascends to Starting RT for Seahawks, Woolen and Brown Out as Cornerbacks
Seattle Seahawks: A Glimpse into the Latest Team Updates
Seattle Seahawks’ Latest Lineup Changes
On Friday, the Seattle Seahawks’ head coach, Mike Macdonald, announced that due to recent injuries, the team is down to their fourth choice for the right tackle position. Rookie Mike Jerrell will take the field on Sunday against the Atlanta Falcons. The Seahawks also confront the absence of two of their main cornerbacks, Pro Bowler Riq Woolen, and Tre Brown.
Right Tackle Position in Flux
Stone Forsythe, the player who took over the right tackle position for the past five games after George Fant’s absence, has been ruled out due to a hand injury. George Fant began the season as the first choice for Seattle in place of the injured Abe Lucas (knee). However, he is currently on injured reserve due to his knee injury.
The Rise of Mike Jerrell
Mike Jerrell, a sixth-round recruit from Division II Findlay, has been waiting in the wings for the first five games. Yet to play an offensive snap, his chance has finally come. “He had a great week of prep,” Macdonald praised him, adding, “He’s come a long way in less than a year. Excited to see him go do his thing.”
More Changes in the Team
Although 42-year-old Jason Peters is available on their practice squad, Macdonald confirmed that the seasoned 21-year veteran won’t be promoted this week. Additionally, Seattle’s loss to the San Francisco 49ers last week saw Woolen out with an ankle injury and Brown injured during the game. Faion Hicks and Josh Jobe will be promoted from the practice squad to help fill in the gaps, with Devon Witherspoon also included in the plan at nickelback.
Future Recovery and Return
Macdonald expressed hope that Woolen and Brown will be back in action next week. Regarding Forsythe’s hand injury, he said, “He had some stuff messed up with his hand so he got it fixed. He’ll be back soon.” Safety Rayshawn Jenkins, who is currently on injured reserve due to a hand injury, underwent surgery last Friday. He is predicted to make his return this season.
Seattle Seahawks’ Upcoming Challenges
The Seahawks, who began the season 3-0 but are now looking to break a three-game losing streak, are considered 3.0-point underdogs.
