Will Bucs’ Star Receiver Mike Evans Play Against Ravens? A Game-Time Verdict Awaits
Update on Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Game-Time Decisions and Injury Report
Uncertainty Looms Over Mike Evans’ Participation
Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ Pro Bowl wideout, Mike Evans, faces a game-time decision for Monday night’s match against the Baltimore Ravens, according to head coach Todd Bowles. Evans sat out Thursday and Friday’s training sessions due to a hamstring issue but managed to participate in “some activities” during Saturday’s practice, said Bowles.
Coach Bowles on Evans’ Injury Progress
Coach Bowles spoke positively about Evans’ progress, stating, “He engaged in some activities today, which were promising. We’ll observe his progress for the next two days and see how he feels. Currently, his status is questionable.” Bowles clarified that the injury has been a recurring issue for Evans, rather than a sudden occurrence.
Evans aggravated his injury during the previous week’s match against the New Orleans Saints. Over his ten-season career, Evans has been absent for only nine games, with eight of these due to health or injury concerns.
Other Team Updates
Evans, the franchise’s all-time top scorer this season, shares the league’s top spot for receiving touchdowns (five) with his teammate Chris Godwin, Allen Lazard, Ja’Marr Chase, and George Kittle.
Bowles also provided updates on other team members. Rookie center and 2024 first-round draft pick, Graham Barton, showed positive progress this week and is expected to play Monday night, despite limited participation in Thursday and Friday practices due to a hamstring injury.
Wide receiver Trey Palmer, who missed the last two games due to a concussion, is cleared to play on Monday after a full practice session on Friday. However, starting cornerback Jamel Dean, who suffered a hamstring injury against the Saints, will be sidelined.
Filling in for Injured Team Members
Rookie cornerback Tyrek Funderburk is set to fill in for Dean, backed by second-year cornerback Josh Hayes. “Funderburk had a decent first performance despite missing the preseason,” said Bowles. “With one game experience, he should be more relaxed and confident. Both he and Hayes will see some field time, and we’re excited to see how they perform.”
Unfortunately, wide receiver Kameron Johnson (ankle) and tight end Payne Durham (calf) are ruled out for the upcoming game.
