Chicago Bears Face Another Game without Star Wide Receiver Keenan Allen
Chicago Bears Grapple with Absence of Key Player Keenan Allen
Keenan Allen’s Absence in the Second Consecutive Game
The Chicago Bears are facing another game without their star wide receiver, Keenan Allen. The 32-year-old is currently grappling with a heel injury that previously forced him to sit out of the Bears’ 19-13 defeat in Houston. Following his absence from all three practice sessions leading up to the third week, Allen has been officially ruled out of the upcoming game against the Colts.
Bears’ Line-Up Changes
In addition to Allen, the Bears have also ruled out fullback Khari Blasingame due to hand and knee issues, running back Travis Homer for a finger injury, and defensive tackle Zacch Pickens for a groin problem. Nate Davis, the team’s right guard, who is also dealing with a groin injury, remains questionable.
Allen’s Performance and Recovery
Allen had an impressive start to the Bears’ season, with four catches for 29 yards in the opening victory against the Tennessee Titans. However, he will not be joining the team in Indianapolis, a decision chalked up to personal reasons by Coach Matt Eberflus.
“He’s recovering steadily,” Eberflus stated, noting that Allen has been working with the training staff and his mobility has been improving. Despite missing six consecutive practices, the coach remains optimistic that Allen’s heel injury will not plague him throughout the season.
“We’re waiting for his body to give the all-clear,” Eberflus said. “Our excellent training staff is working tirelessly to speed up his recovery. Allen has been extremely committed to his recovery… We’re optimistic about his progress and will see how things shape up next week.”
